Maestro Quinn and the Juneau Symphony kick off the season with an electrifying concert showcasing both new and timeless symphonic classics. Sibelius’ grand and majestic Andante Festivo opens the concert. In a career spanning more than one thousand movie soundtracks, world class french horn soloist Jim Thatcher joins the orchestra to play Ewazen’s suspenseful Horn Concerto. Schumann’s glorious Fourth Symphony promises to have you on your feet with an ending not to be missed.

Join Maestro Quinn and the Juneau Symphony in a patriotic celebration as we perform music by the great American composers. Perennial favorites such as Copland’s Fanfare for the Common Man and Barber’s Adagio for Strings are highlighted by the orchestra. Join in singing our concluding audience favorite, America the Beautiful.

Mozart Symphony No. 41 in C major, K. 551 Jupiter
In this concert, we pair young, brilliant soloists with legendary composers, performing some of the world’s most beloved works. Our youth concerto competition winner Tezah Haddock will dazzle the audience with his interpretation of Mozart while the Juneau Symphony Chorus and Juneau Douglas High School Choir join the orchestra for Bernstein’s hopeful and life-affirming Chichester Psalms. Mozart’s monumental masterpiece the “Jupiter” Symphony will conclude this concert with works never performed before in Juneau.
The Movie Maestro: A Tribute to John Williams
We close the season with a special tribute to the incomparable John Williams. With his instantly recognizable scores, John Williams has redefined the art of film music, providing the soundtrack of our lives and becoming the Academy’s most nominated living person. Re-live music of the big screen from his greatest Hollywood scores, including Superman, Indiana Jones, and of course, Star Wars. Behold the power of music and film as visual clips are shown on the big screen while you experience the grandeur of live music, including a few audience interactive surprises. This is a concert not to be missed!
